Smoking, Alcohol, Medication and Breastfeeding

In an ideal world no woman would smoke, drink alcohol or take drugs when pregnant or breastfeeding. One reason for this is that some substances can get into breastmilk and cause harm to the baby. In the case of somking, the baby will also be inhaling secondary smoke which is a risk factor for cot-death.

The following articles look how breastfeeding is affected by smoking, alcohol and medication.
